Located on the outskirts of the well preserved Moremi Game Reserve, is a wildlife-rich and varied ecosystem that provides a network of lagoons, shallow flooded pans, open grasslands and wooded forests. This is Khwai, an area that is without a doubt one of the most scenic areas in all of Botswana.
Spanning an area of 1800 km, lies the The Khwai community adjacent to the Northern quarter of the famous Moremi Game Reserve, has a population of just 400 people who are either predominately of BaBukakhwe or River Bushmen decent. These tribesmen are indeed an inspirational example of a local community who have lived and are living in peaceful harmony with wildlife.
The concession is formed by the local Khwai villagers and is managed entirely by the Khwai Development Trust. In the earlier days, the area used to be a hunting concession. But today, it is actively managed as a conservation area. The villagers who were relocated from the Moremi Game Reserve at the time of its establishment took over the area. The local community now actively runs ecotourism initiativesin the concession, manages its wildlife and conserve the environment.
Between Namibia and Botswana, on the southern banks of the Linyanti River, is the Linyanti Wildlife Reserve that forms a natural border between both countries. This private concession boasts a splendid variation of pristine habitat including riverine forest, untouched grasslands and meandering lagoons. In comparison to its neighbouring protected areas in the south, Okavango Delta and Chobe National Park in the east, Linyanti remains largely unexplored with a high concentration of game. Due to the remote location of this 1,250 sq km protected reserve, every corner is bursting with wildlife which is simply astounding in not just the dry season but the wet season too. During the green season, avid bird enthusiasts and bird photographers will be awestruck as thousands of exotic birds migrate to this region. On the banks of the Linyanti river Carmine bee-eaters can often be seen nesting.
The Victoria falls is truly a natural spectacle of epic of proportions. A visit to Southern Africa is indeed incomplete without seeing the mighty falls. No wonder, people call it “the smoke that thunders” – to this day the amazingly beautiful Victoria Falls remains to be one of the most spectacular natural seven wonders of the world.

On arrival in Maun Airport, board a scheduled bush flight to the Camp. Check-in to the rooms, followed by lunch. Later, it is time to explore the Khwai Concession. The Khwai concession area comprises of varied ecosystems from undulating grasslands and enchanted forests to lush floodplains and green lagoons – this region is one of the most consistent areas for wildlife encounters all round the year.

Following a final morning safari and breakfast at camp, board a flight from Khwai to the Linyati Wildlife Reserve Airstrip located close to the next camp on this itinerary. Landing in Linyati is a visual treat, for which no words can do justice. Check-in at camp, followed by lunch. Time to explore the spectacular region.
At Linyati, a life-changing wilderness experience awaits you. The exclusive camp located in a privately owned concession adjacent to and bordering the iconic Chobe National Park has just 6 luxury tents and offers an intimate Chobe experience. The Chobe Enclave is a rich ecosystem teeming with wildlife and is well known for large herds of elephants and buffalo. The safari camp sits on the banks of the lush Linyanti Wetlands – an area of significance for being the primary water source in the dry season.
The Camp is a traditional one, with a soulful scattering of interesting African artefacts. The elevated communal deck area offers a cosy lounge, bar and a palatial dining area. The sparkling pool is a wonderful place to enjoy a cold drink as you soak in the beautiful views of the unique Linyanti landscape. On the last morning in Linyati, enjoy your last safari and breakfast at Camp. Transfer to the airstrip for a scheduled flight to Kasane Airport. On arrival in Kasane, the guests are transferred by road to the Zambian Side of the Victoria Falls.
